Benjamin Older is a founding partner of OLDER, LUNDY & WEISMAN and manages the firm's marketing department.
Since 2003, Benjamin has practiced exclusively in the area of
Marital and Family Law. His practice has always been largely the litigation of Marital and Family Law cases, however his experience dictates that litigation is not always necessary. This experience and belief has led him to seek training in the cutting edge area of Collaborative Divorce. Benjamin has become known for his ability to help clients attempt first to reach a private and amicable solution to their family law matters, before their case escalates into costly and emotionally damaging litigation. Even still, he recognizes that some cases require all of the resources, experience, and tenacity that he and the firm can offer in a full blown litigation. Benjamin's approach to the delicate issues that arise in Marital and Family Law is to remain empathetic and understanding toward each individual client, and to never lose sight of his oath to zealously represent his clients' best interests. In addition to his law practice he manages the marketing efforts of the firm.
Benjamin completed a three year term on the Florida Bar Grievance Committee, Section 13F, and served as Chairman for two of those years. He is an active member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, as well as the Hillsborough County Family Law Section and Family Law Inn of Court. He has served on the Hillsborough County Family Law Bench Bar Committee, and currently is a Member of the Hillsborough County Family Law Executive Counsel. He is a member of the Collaborative Law Institute of Tampa Bay, an organization dedicated to the practice and furtherance of the Collaborative Divorce process. Benjamin has authored and co-authored numerous articles featured in Lawyer Magazine.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Benjamin is also an
active member of the Tampa community. His charitable interests include current service on the Board of Directors of the Child Abuse Counsel as well as the Board of Directors for the Health Care Connection Foundation. Benjamin also served for five years on the Board of Directors of the National Council on Addiction of Drug Dependence. He also donates his time for charity by performing music for local events and various causes. Additionally, he is active in both the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, as well as the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce, and is a fundraising chair for the Taste of South Tampa. Benjamin has been featured in Tampa Bay Illustrated Magazine, Cultural Affairs Magazine, and SOHO Magazine for his philanthropic and professional endeavors and has been invited to speak on numerous panels related to his law practice and his charitable pursuits. Additionally, he also frequently speaks on topics related to Marital and Family Law.
Benjamin graduated from the University of Southern California in 1993 and the University of Miami School of Law in 1999. He is admitted to practice in Florida. He speaks Spanish fluently.
